Welcome to the website of Spotting Group Koksijde. Our group collects people living near Koksijde Air Base which are passionate in military aviation. On the "Koksijde" page you can find more information about the helicopters based at Koksijde and the spots where you can see the action. We try to collect the daily military visitors and these are listed in the "movements" section. On the "pictures" page we show you the pictures made at Koksijde throughout the year. Off course we travel to other airfields around the globe as well, and these trip reports can be read in the "trips" section of this website. Exercise Storm Tide

Exercise Storm Tide, the big Non-Combattant Evacuation Operation (NEO) excercise, was held from 5 till 16 Sepember 2022 and was concentrated at the airfields of Weelde and Koksijde. NEO is an evactuation of Belgian civilians in a foreign country when the security situation is rapidly deteriorating. Such an operation has four fases: activation - deployment - evacuation - redeployment. As from the 7th of September the activation and deployment of personell and military material started from Melsbroek to Koksijde. see more...

Belgian Open Aerobatics Championship 2022

For the sixth time, the Belgian Open Aerobatics Championship was organized by the West Aviation Club in Koksijde. This small scale event attracted a lot of people that enjoyed some nice aerobatic planes, the Red Devils, some visiting helicopters and even some warbirds. Each year the Medical helicopter from the Sint Jan hospital in Bruges attends this event, this year was the first time to show their new H-145 helicopter which was delivered earlier this year. see more...

Open Door 2022

After two cancelled editions due to the corona pandemic, another opendoor was held on Wednesday the 6th of July. The weather was perfect: sunshine and not too hot, which resulted in a massive crowd on the airbase that brought back (a little bit of) the feeling of the airshows in the past. The static display was filled with a marchetti, NH-90TTH and A400M, as well as the locally NH-90NFH and Sea King RS03. But there was more than one Sea King on the airbase for the opendoor. see more...
